Pomegranate Sparkle
Eat. Drink. Be merry! The ultimate recipe for a joyful holiday season. You didn’t think we could get through this season without any alcohol, did you?
I’ve shared plenty of good eats with you and we’re all having a merry ol’ time, right? So let’s finally check everything off our list and share a few cocktails together!

Way back when I was a young buck, I bartended my way through college. From Orange County bars and private soirĂ©es to glitzy Hollywood clubs, I was right in the thick of it all. Bartending is definitely a fast-paced job but you’d be amazed to find out how much down time we actually had behind the glass bottles. When a bartender is bored, we make top secret experimental concoctions. Some are better off staying a secret but I’ve come across a few that are worth sharing.
Bring some sparkle to your holiday gathering by serving up this sweet and tart pomegranate cocktail. Full of tannins, pomegranate provides some wonderful health benefits though I’m quite sure adding a bit of alcohol negates this. But if it makes you feel better when you sip on a few of these, then yes, it does have added health bonuses *wink wink*.

| 3 | ounces vanilla vodka |
| 1 1/2 | ounces pomegranate liqueur |
| 2 | ounces Perrier (club soda works too but it’s the holidays, be fancy!) |
| Decorating sugar (I used India Tree from Whole Foods) |
- Moisten the rim of two martini glasses with a lemon wedge. Lightly coat the rim with decorating sugar and set aside. Next, fill a cocktail shaker with ice and combine vanilla vodka and pomegranate liqueur. Shake vigorously and strain into the martini glasses. Top with the Perrier or club soda. Cheers!

@doggybloggy: Funny thing, my boyfriend actually really likes the sugar rim! He even finished the one from my glass (hopefully I didn’t embarrass him too much!).

@Christine: The sugar really adds a nice sparkle to the drink. It crystallizes on the rim a little so it’s like having rock candy on your martini!

@Maggie: We have plenty of Pama Pomegranate Liqueur leftover so I can make some for our Christmas dinner if you’d like!

@Simply Life: Thank you! The decorative sugar is so fun to use for garnish and they come in so many colors too. I’m sure I’ll be using a lot more of them

@Mimi: It’s always great to be able to sneak in a few antioxidants even when you’re celebrating the holidays with a liquid diet. Thanks for coming by!

@Chloe: Thanks! For my food pics, I just invested in a few key pieces like linen napkins, serving ware and craft paper. It works wonders!
